I don't know what the rules are to be honest? But, I believe as long as she is still in that circle when she lets go of the ball - its a legal pitch - but I'm def. not an expert on that matter. Perhaps you should call my friend Jennie Finch, I think she might know! But feel free to debate - noting else to do this summer!
That pitch looks illegal according to this. I have seen this before and it looks like they are gaining a tremendous edge by being much closer to the batter when they release the ball. Here is what the asssa says the rule is.
ABOUT THE PITCH: a. The pitch starts when one hand is taken off the ball or the pitcher makes any motion that is part of the windup after the hands have been brought together. b. Once the hands are brought together, the pitcher shall not take more than one-step, which must be forward, toward the batter and simultaneous with the delivery. Any step backward shall begin before the hands come together. The step backward may end before or after the hands come together. NOTE: Toward is interpreted as within or partially within the 24- inch length of the pitcher’s plate. c. The pivot foot may remain in contact with or may push off and drag away from the pitching plate prior to the front foot touching the ground, as long as the pivot foot remains in contact with the ground. Pushing off with the pivot foot from a place other than the pitcher’s plate is illegal. NOTE 1: It is not a step if the pitcher slides his foot in any direction on the pitcher’s plate, provided contact is maintained. NOTE 2: Techniques such as the “crow hop” and “the leap” are illegal.
I'd have to think that if these are indeed the rules that something hasn't been said or done about it by now...I mean, what did they do, win like 22 straight or something. Well, even if no one in the First Region did say something, I'd be hard pressed to think that it won't come to light at the state tournament. One would at least think so.
It'll be interesting to see if it is brought to light.
I have to start with my list of loves with my boys Parker & Braxton. They’re quickly followed up with 1A, my blushing and beautiful bride Cassandra. Then there’s photography. I like to think of it more has a hobby than a job, but sometimes those lines blur as I’m behind the lens. I love everything Chicago. From the Northside (Cubs) to the Southside (Bears, you fool, not the Sox). I love Kentucky & Purdue hoops. There are many things that could follow, but they all seem to come back to my love for photography, especially the thrills & joys that come with capturing that one moment.

Is this a legal pitch. The ball hasn't left her hand and she is really off the pitching rubber quite a bit.
